vintage Red trade beads on sterling silverThese were a surprisingly big hit at the ACC Baltimore show. The American Crafts Show in Baltimore is the largest Craft event in the US. The show is always held in late February, a cold dreary time here on the mid east coast. I decided that I needed something to cheer myself up, and to show off a little bit , while I toured the show. So, I made these for myself to wear. Surprisingly, I was stopped repeatedly and complemented on my earrings. I even had one fellow artist try to buy the beads off of me. The beads are old, and apparently rare, figure 8 shaped beads from Africa. They were such a hit that I made another pair to sell in my C Studio shop. I only have enough beads for 2 pairs. Only 2 pairs will exist.. mine and these.
These are gorgeous red vintage tribal beads that interlock together along the length of a hand hammered sterling silver marquise wire.
One of my motto's is "wear more red." It make you feel better and is a very powerful color.
